No review this post, but the next one will. I'm almost done with this book. Finals have killed my reading time!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday break.
I know a lot of people are off or about to be.

I'm really excited. I haven't mentioned much before, but I've been wanting to post some reviews up of mangas and manhwas.

I'm trying to not only reach a broader group but hopefully broaden your reading material too. Don't think about all the stuff you've heard about manga! A lot of it is actually really good. The trick is finding something appealing to the eye and mind.

Anyways, there is a lot coming in December so be on the look out! I hope everyone has a great holiday break!

Review: Snowed In by Rachel Hawthorne

I don't know if anyone else does this, but when it's a certain time of year, I LOVE to read books in the same season, etc. It's the same with music. And Winter has to be my favorite season. It's beautiful and I love the cold! So anyways, during my search for a winter themed book, I came across Snowed In by Rachel Hawthorne.

Snowed In is a sweet,albeit predictable book. Our lead girl Ashleigh and her mother move away from Texas to a tiny island in the Great Lakes after her father decides to remarry.

While her mother is trying to set up their B&B, Ashleigh is just trying to adjust to her new life-making friends and getting a date. And just who is that strangely attractive lumberjack boy???

This book was pretty fun actually. It's a little cheesy romantic, but it totally fits. First off, her new "best friend" seems a little psycho. She was super annoying, someone you'd totally want to slap in the face. All you ever hear her say is MY BOYFRIEND.

At first, I thought she'd end up with one guy, but just as soon as I began to think so, his reactions told me not so much.

Another thing I liked about this book was the protagonist's realism. Ashleigh's outlook on dating reflected her anger and hurt she felt towards her dad. I could feel her characters frustration and hurt. Hawthorne's book might be your typical teen's romantic comedy, BUT I think that's part of what people really like about her writing and books. People like having a commonality. It's relative to our own lives. And yes, sometimes these type of books can be a little far fetched, but we still can find a connection. And that's what makes us enjoy reading really. Feeling the connection to the characters and stories.

Review: Hush, Hush

So I finished Hush, Hush and I have to say it was my book crack of the month.

Firstly however, I have to say before I even knew what it was about, the cover blew me away. It's very compelling to me. It stuck out so much more than your average book cover. It had me intrigued. And I always go for books like that.

I completely fell for this book. It took me in and swept me up! The plot was great. Becca Fitzpatrick's debut was a hit in my book. The writing is pretty simplistic, but that's what I love. It gets to the point and isn't overly flamboyant like a lot of novels I've read.

Oh and it has fallen angels.

Patch's character is so mysterious. Even though as the book went along and I began to find out more about him, I found him in the end, more mysterious. Yes, he is the typical bad boy, but with the whole twist!

And creepy guys. Did I mention that pretty much all the guys are creepy? Even Patch at some parts. I love creepers in a plot. It's a lot more interesting when your character is being stalked by a crazed lunatic.

This book is the beginning of a series and opens up a lot of questions.

The next book will be called Crescendo.

Now, this is the first ever Book Alert post! I came across this book not even a day ago. I've been steadily reading it and I must say, it's HOT!

Obviously the trend for writers is the supernatural. God knows there are a lot of vampire series and such coming out these days.

This is along the genre, but it's not a vampire book. It's got a fallen angel.
I know what your thinking too. But it's great so far. I'm really enjoying it.

Vacation Reads

I'M NOT DONE WITH THIS POST YET. MY INTERNET IS A DUFUS.

This weekend, I'm heading down to a convention in Mobile, Al. And so suddenly I had this idea to post some great books to read while your on vacation or away on a trip.

Summer in the City by Elizabeth Chandler
A girl spends her summer with her mother who just happens to be a writer. She isn't sure she's happy about it until she meets Josh!

this is a pretty thick book, but it's a fast read. don't think it isn't because of the size.

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
A girl winds up dead but only to find she's still alive only in Elsewhere, a place where those who age backwards. A light read about letting go and embracing the life you have.

One of my favorite books. It's a great story and has a pretty interesting plot. You won't be bored with this book.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
Nick ask's Norah to be his girlfriend for five minutes to avoid his girlfriend which leads to a night of adventure and wave of emotions.

Great book, horrible movie. I love how Rachel wrote Nick's part and David wrote Norah's. They must write again together. This book was amazing! It's hilarious and fast paced. You will enjoy.

Cathy's Ring: Book Trailer

I'm not a huge fan of book trailers since usually they are pretty crappy, at least the ones I've seen anyways, but the Cathy's Book series isn't so bad.

Cheesy voice overs, but whatever. The illustrations are amazing, just like in the book.

I'm a huge fan of the Cathy's Book series and the third novel, Cathy's Ring, is coming out May 4th!

I'm super excited for it and plan to go and buy it then. If you haven't read the first, Cathy's Book go check it out. In fact, look over at my review for it and Cathy's Key.

Another book I want to read, the cover looked interesting! I haven't seen a lot of covers like this so it drew me in. Almost like Wicked Lovely. I'll have to pick this up next time! In other news, I'm over halfway done with another book! I'm doing so much better now on all that, I must say! It's been a little difficult getting back on the boat since I got sick, but things are shaping up to be well, indescribible.

Review: 20 Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

Imagine that one day your finally with the person you love and the suddenly, their gone.
20 Boy Summer is a coming of age story about a girl named Anna who finds and loses love, and makes peace with herself. During her 20-day summer vacation with her best friend Frankie, they decide to play a game. Each day they would meet a boy, in hopes of a summer romance. Anna goes along with it, but doesn’t tell Frankie the truth. She’s already had her romance, with Frankie’s brother Matt, who died a year earlier.

I really enjoyed this book. I could feel the characters raw emotions, especially Anna’s. This book is emotionally honest, each character deals with their feelings on Matt’s death is heartbreaking. I would love to see a companion book about these characters again. It was hard not to become attached to their stories and lives. Sarah Ockler's writing is really heart-warming and I definitely want to come across another book of hers again!

Sorry about being absent! I've had exams all week and so I was studying and things like that.

The yearbook is almost done too. I had to go in today, but I can't since my mummy doesn't want me to go out since I haven't seen her in a while.

Well now I can get back on track and update again..

Speaking of tests, there are a few books that I have read centered around 'em.

The Taker by J.M. Steele

This is a pretty good book. It's interesting, but sort of cliche. I give it a 3.5 out of 5

It was pretty funny.

Hacking Harvard by Robin Wasserman

Okay maybe not exactly the same, but you get where I'm going. Its about these geeky kids who try to get a slacker into Harvard. Has some twists and is pretty interesting. But it could have been better. 3.5 out of 5

And strangely, that's all I can remember at the moment.

Epik Short Story Collection

Epik High's leader Tablo has recently released a short stories collection called Pieces of You.

If you haven't heard of Epik High, which I'm guessing most of you haven't, they are a korean hip-hop/rap group. They are one of my favorite bands because they sing about real issues and are a bit deeper than some of the artists in the US. Plus they just rock.

Tablo had attended Stanford University and had written the stories in his college years. This collection of short stories is a bestseller in Korea, selling

50, 000 copies in one week. And did I mention it became a bestseller before it even came out? It's also been said to have gone into a second printing. This book has now been made available in the original english form and for sale on various websites.

The book itself contains ten short stories and even has a few ink-styled illustrations.

I just recieved this book, Masks Evolution by Hayden Thorne in the mail.

I'm interested in the cover, reminds me of Mary GrandPre's art. Well, at least the boy does.

Anyways, even though the book's cover interests me, the book itself doesn't.

But alas, I must read it as I have to review it for a site.

Anyways, I decided I had to pull myself together and an idea came to me. Why not review it chapter by chapter on my blog? Or at least, every three chapters..or something. WHATEVER.

It'll help keep me motivated and give you insight on a book I've doubt anyone of you have read.

I've never even heard of the publisher, Torquere Press: Prizm Books.

Frank Warren, the amazing creator of Post Secret, just recently released news of a new post secret book!

"PostSecret Confessions on Life, Death and God" will be released later this year and has been two years in the making! If you still want to submit your secret, you still have a chance! So go mail it in!

I personally love Post Secret a lot. It's so creative and thought provoking. It's a great way to connect with people anonymously and see that your not that different from everyone else.

I mean, just look at the one I found on google. Post Secret offers people a way to let out their raw feelings. I just can't stress how much I love post secret.

I'm super excited for this to come out since I totally love the "Cathy's" books. It totally has me guessing. I'm so ready for this to come out.

Far From You by Lisa Schroeder

When I checked my mail a week ago, I quickly checked to see what Simon Pulse sent in. After looking over the cover, I jumped right in. Right away, even from the first page, I knew this was something I wanted to read.

I don't know if you've ever read a book in verse, but their amazing. Maybe it's because I love poetry or maybe because I just like to read, but it sucked me in.

Far From You is a story about overcoming the immense pain of loss and having the courage to love. Sixteen yrs. old Alice is dealing with the loss of her her mother and her sudden gain of a new step-mom and baby sister. The only seemingly good thing in her life is Blaze and her music.

Without much warning, an innocent trip gone wrong leaves Alice to confront her feelings and to have the will to survive.

Lisa Schroeder's writing is completely subliminal. The words on each page just flow through you, resonating and leaving you with so much to think about. It's easy to identify with Alice even in you haven't had a loved one pass away. It's easy for everyone to grasp an idea of pain she feels in the novel. Reading this book made me think over my own life. It makes you want to be stronger, more courageous.

This is a fantastic read if your like me and on short time. I think readers will like the verse style since it's "easier on the eyes" and seems to go by faster.

I don't know if its a necessarily a good thing since it's so good, and I wanted it to go on, but I'm definitely going to read this again. I'd love to see more YA books by Schroeder and I hope she continues to write.

That's right, you see it typed.. up there. Yeah.

Everyone knows that their are great benefits from buying and checking out books at your library. But which is the MOST beneficial to you and your pocket in these hard times?
For some people its buying and for others it's borrowing. Everyone is different (duh!).

Anyways, here is a list I've drawn up. (not literally or anything..)

Pro's & Con's of Buying Books:
P- You get to keep your book forever
C- You may not want it forever
P- You can re-read it whenever you want
C- You wasted money on a book you don't want to read again
P- Bookstores offer coupons!
C-You have to pay
C-Workers of the store don't like you to read the books.. and then leave.

Pro's & Con's of Borrowing Books:
P- You can read there! And they don't get mad. ( at least, till it closes..)
C- You can't talk. ( loud anyways. I'm a loud person, so CON)
P- It's free. (Unless your like me and you owe huge fines for giving books back late.)
C- The books might smell funny or have weird stains! (a total throw off, especially if your a clean freak like me)
P- Books on Tape!! Most libraries have them anyways..
P- Computers. (very useful in all sorts of aspects!)
C- Using car gas and money to drive there.

Well, that's it. You can agree or not, but it's what I've concluded. The library is a god send, but only if it's close by. It's pretty close but I still have to say, I like to buy my own books. WHEN I can afford it.

Finally, a word of small advice.

If your like me, you have level of how much you want to read a book. If it's not that high and your so-so about paying for it, go to a library! It's free to check out (so long as you return it on time).

Manga?

Many people say that they do not like manga, manhwa, etc. Curiously enough, I decided to check it out a while back and I'm completely loving it.

I don't like anything that dramatically takes away from "real" humans, drawing wise, and I think that's one reason why people don't like it. I have found some manga and manhwa's to be very "pretty" in my own opinion. What people don't realise, is that all art isn't the same. Sure, there are similarities to some artists, but overall, they are different.

Being asian, I feel like many people expect me to be a certain way. Grade A Student, Musical Genius, "Anime Freak", etc. Sure it's all different, but I honestly believe people have certain expectations for people.

I used to be wary over reading manhwa, korean version of manga/comics, but now I'm okay with it. I think it's probably because I'm more comfortable-and proud, that I'm korean american.

Anyways, to get to my point, I think that EVERYONE should try and give it a chance. I know that it's not for some people, but check it out anyways!

Before Breaking Dawn offically came out, I had started to listen to various podcasts. Now, I was ever really into podcasts before. I was an occasional Grammar Girl listener (so shoot me.) , but I never thought to check out some book related podcasts.

&& I have to say, there are a TON of fantastic ones. And not only are they fantastic, they are free, BITCH! ( I even said this to myself in my head the first time I found them)

I'm absolutely in love with Podcasts now. I could listen to them for a long time and totally be occupied. At first, it was a little awkward listening to them in my room, doing nothing, so I loaded them up on my ipod and went out for a walk.

Gahh, I can't help but gush over them.

Anyways, some of the podcasts I've been listening to are:

I really wish though, that I had checked out Imprints a long time ago. It would have been cool to read these books and listened to Imprints at the same time. Hmm, oh well.

Oh but wait, I have to mention how I'm pissed that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince got pushed back. I know it's "old news" but I'm still pretty pissed over it. Why the FUCK would they do that? I know that "Twilight had nothing to do with it" but I still wonder. I mean, since Twilight got pushed to November, which I'm super glad, I wonder if they were worried about competition? Honestly, I don't see why they would push HP back till the summer.

Author Spotlight: Louise Rennison

Louise Rennison, writer of the best selling Confessions of Georgia Nicholson series, has definitely been having a good month. Her popluar novel, Angus, Thong, and Full-Frontal Snogging, is coming out with a movie July 25th and has released a new

Whenever I'm reading one of the books out in public somewhere, I always get a comment on the title.

"Knocked Out by My Nunga Nungas?!! What kind of a book is that? It sounds weird.. What are Nunga Nungas? Are they what I think they are?"

By the time I'm finished telling them what the book is about, I know they are interested. Louise Rennison said the series is based on her life growing up-not completely, but enough to make her embaressed at times.

Entertainment Weekly's newest issue, coming out this friday, features Robert Pattison and Kristin Stewart for the upcoming film version of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

Inside, will be the first interview about Breaking Dawn with Stephenie Meyer. No spoilers will be noted inside.

I must say, Robert and Kristin have really amazing chemistry. I know it's hard to tell just by looking, but it's just there. I love this cover almost as much as the offical movie posters. I'm still a little wary about how the film is going to turn out, but I'm hopeful. Both actors are perferct for the roles and great on screen. I loved Kristen Stewart's performance in Speak! She has so much talent-and so does Robert, gahh, I'm just excited. It's not everyday your favorite book is greenlighted to be a film and the actors an absolute perfect match. My worst nightmare for the film would have to be it being rated PG.

There is no way, that I could enjoy this movie if it was. I highly doubt it, but you know. If it was, that would mean that a lot of scenes from the book were cut. && I totally get that everything in the book can get fitted in, but still. I'm hoping for certain scenes to be in there.

I'm still having a hard time with Taylor Lautner, aka Sharkboy, as Jacob. I mean, didn't they do this big search for a Native American guy to play him and they end up casting him? He's not NA and it just pisses me off. I don't know why. I feel like Taylor or Jackson Rathbone will be Twilight's downfall. I have barely any faith in those two. Jasper is one of my favorite characters and they cast Rathbone? Words could not fully describe my feelings when I found out.

Anyways, I'm going to try and give Sharkboy and Mr. Disney 411 the benefit of the doubt. It'll be hard, but for myself and the movie, I will.

So, hopefully, if your a fan of Twilight, you'll pick this issue up Friday! I'm pretty anxious for the interview. :D

Review: How They Met and Other Stories

How They Met and Other Stories is a modern-day collection of shorts by David Levithan. The stories are about love and the many shapes and forms love comes in. Sometimes, love hits us with no question. In the escaltor, a love story, Daniel doesn't really know anything about love- it's a concept to him. He's been dating a girl, Mandy, for a while and they fit well together. While Daniel and Mandy are at the mall, Daniel suddenly decides that they should go up and down the escaltors. After Daniel reaches the second floor, he stares at Mandy- transfixed by her, as she is pushes up the stairs. At that moment, love hits him and well, Mandy hits the floor. The story ends with a little blood and a kiss.

How They Met and Other Stories is surprisingly, to me, an excellent collection. I honestly expected sappy stories, but David Levithan's collection has more depth than I expected. It's also the first time I have read about different types relationships. (eg. boy meets boy, girl meets girl, etc.) Although I felt that at times the gay characters were presented sterotypically, as shown in the media, the stories were shown in realistically. Overall, I recommend this collection if your looking for a quick and contemporary read. If your not comfortable with some profanity or "unconventional" relationships, go for something else. Although, you'll be missing out!

Book Mooching Addiction?

So I've recently become a book moocher. (see previous post)

I must say, I'm addicted to the site! It's so much easier than going to the bookstore or library. I'm always reading something, so it's great that I can look at my wishlist every now and then, and mooch something to read later.

What makes me really happy, is that they also let you mooch re-used packages/manilla folders.
That saves me a lot of money! Ahh, so I guess the point of the silly post is that I am in book mooch heaven.

When I first picked up Cathy's Book and flipped through the pages, I knew I would be hooked.

I did not anticipate another sequel so I was really surprised and happy when I heard that Cathy's Key was coming out! In fact, I remember when I bought it, I was running up to the register and slapped my hands on the table and look at him with these crazy eyes (I could feel them coming on) and asked, "DooYouHafghCathysKeyy?"

The man (aka Gentle Giant) gave me this blank stare and directed me toward the YA Section of Barnes and Noble and handed me the book. It was as if I was Indiana Jones picking out the true holy grail. Well, maybe not so much, but pretty close.

Anyways, I got home and sat on my bed and read it in two hours (love the illustrations!). So maybe your wondering, did it live up to my great expectations? Yes and no. It wasn't God awful or anything like that. Infact, I rather enjoyed it! I just felt like some of it was rushed. It's definitely bigger than Cathy's Key, but I feel like it was lacking sometimes. Overall, I must say I really loved it and yes, it has its Cathy & Victor moments. Cathy's Key also ties up some loose ends with the mystery of her father and some of the immortals.

Review: Chain Mail: Addicted to You by Hiroshi Ishizaki

Chain Mail by Hiroshi Ishizaki is a story in four different teenagers point of views. Each teen is connected to each other by a chain mail message sent to their phone. All end up joining a site where they each take on a role in a narrative story. One plays a schoolgirl stalked by a boy, while another plays her stalker, boyfriend, and detective. However, their roles in the story start to seemingly become reality. Chain Mail is a tale woven into an unforgettable story filled with angst and suspense.

At first, It was sort of difficult to get into Chain Mail. However, trudging on, I soon found myself immersed in Ishizaki's book. The plot of the book is unlike anything I have ever read before. The different point of views in this novel were switched smoothly, which I usually find hard to see. This book might be a little difficult for some readers, but included are handy footnotes describing small details and words in the book. I recommend this book to teens who enjoy reading of different cultures or anyone looking for an interesting read. It grabbed my attention!

Bored Blog Post

I recently got a surprising amount of books sent in this past week and a half.
I'm definitely having a lot more interesting things to come. Some of the authors are An Na, Kim Wong Keltner, and Elizabeth Scott.

Oh and I just finished watching Lars and the Real Girl. It was such a fantastic film. Ryan Gosling is such a phenomenal actor. It was really a heartfelt film. I really think everyone should watch it. The ending could have been better, but it fit in many ways. A lot of people I talk to recommended it too.

So I logged on Stephenie Meyer's site and it was nice to see some updated pictures of the upcoming Twilight Film too. All I could think was, "Finally, the dry spell is over!"

Hm, I might not be able to post again until a few weeks. I have an interview for better position on yearbook and studying for another state test.

Wow, I can't wait till school will be over!

Something to Blog About is a story about a girl named Libby Fawcett who has a secret blog. In her blog, Libby posts to vent out her feelings and embaressment. For example, Libby posts about the time Seth Jacobs, her crush since eighth grade, sees her hair light on fire from a bunsen burner in chemistry and when she finds out her mom is dating her nemisis Angel's Dad. If things couldn't get worse for Libby, they do tremendously. Soon, her blog entries are posted everywhere! After reading an entry, Keisha, her bestfriend, is no longer speaking to her. Libby has to stir up the courage to make amends with her friend and confront Seth.

Shana Norris' Something to Blog About was a great book! It was really fresh how some of it was written blog style. I could not stop laughing at Libby's mishaps throughout the book. I thought the storyline was original and although it was a bit predictable at times, I had overall enjoyed reading it. I look foward to reading more by Shana Norris. Her writing style is fantastic and I could tell she really got into writing this novel. I felt like I could really relate to Libby and her other characters. Readers who enjoy and light reads and the works of Lauren Myracle will surely enjoy this book. With a bit of everything, Something to Blog About will be a book to enjoy many times to come.

Review: One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies

One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies is a fantastic read.

It is a story about a young girl named Ruby Milliken who's mother has just died. She reluctantly leaves everything behind- her best friend, boyfriend, and aunt to move to L.A. to live with her father. Who by the way, is a famous movie star. He left Ruby's mother before she was born.

Now, the book cover shown here is a little odd to me. It totally doesn't go with the title. She's smiling. It is a little odd to me, that they would put a girl smiling on the cover of this book. Does it go with the title? Not really.

Other than that, It is great. It's a fast read that I think anyone can enjoy. If you have read Rachel Cohn or Sarah Dessen you will enjoy this most likely. Unless your a homophobic person, then maybe it isn't for you. YES, this book deals with homosexuality. So if your uncomfortable about it, I wouldn't recommend it or really anything to you. A lot of fantastic fiction deals with it. I mean, take a look at The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

Anyways, this book is now in paperback. I know how a lot of people don't like buying hard covers because there more expensive. I like hardcover more though because they last longer.

1. I'm really cranky right now, due to lack of sleep and nourishment! && a writing exam that took two hours. (I'm whining inside.)

2. I love roadtrips. You really get to know people by long car rides. They can really suck, but the best ones are without your family. At least, In my opinion.

I am asian [korean] on the outside, but white on the inside. I barely have ANY sterotypical behavior of asians.. Except the good grades part. Oh, and the watching asian dramas and reading manhwa. Okay, I am asian. I admit it. OH, even the occasional trip to soompi.com . Damn, I'm asian.. I even eat with chopsticks. So scratch the twinkie thing I guess..

5. I'm in love with Margaret Keane's art. She's one of my favorite artists of all time. For real.

Review: Footfree & Fancyloose by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain

Footfree and Fancyloose is a story about four best friends who embark on a personal journey persue their dreams. Sophie is busy away in LA, making her first strides towards becoming an actress and getting her big break. Unluckily, she get's kicked out of her posh 90210 pad and has to take Sam's couch. Kate is in Ethopia with a volunteer group, trying to convince a man to let them build a well on his property to help his village. It doesn't help that Darby, another volunteer, thinks that she is a "dumb blonde" and that her reasons are superficial, which makes him treat her horribly. Harper is struggling to write her novel and keep up with her changing friendship with Jude, while Becca is struck with love for Stewart. Becca soon finds out her relationship with Stewart is not as perfect as she thoughts and must make a choice.

Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain have shown their skill in this book! Reader's will not be disappointed with Bass Ackwards and Belly Up's sequel. In all honesty, It was a little hard for me to get into, but the book definitely grew on me fast! In fact, I was dreading to get to the end because I knew it would be over. Each Character had shown a tremendous amount of growth since the first. I recommend this series for girls who have previously relished books by Sarah Dessen or Ann Brashares.

Review: Princess Lessons by Meg Cabot

If your like me and fall over the carpet, this book is for you.

Learn to walk, talk, eat, and act like a princess. This treasure is filled with tips that you can use in almost any situation. I have read this like 3x and I love it. It was completely useful when I had a formal dinner to go to! The illustrations are adorable and so is the content.

Anyways, I bought this years ago, but never thought to pick it up and actually READ it. Who would ever think to read a book? [sarcasm]

So pick up your copy today from either the bookstore or library. Preferably the library if I were you so that way you won't have to pay all that money like moi.

Review: Fame, Glory & Other Thing on my To Do List

Jessica is your average teenager. She goes to school, drives, and keeps a job. One day Jessica is leaving Walmart and gets into her car. Well actually, not exactly.Turns out to be Jordan Hunter's car. Son of the famous actor Christopher Hunter. This turns out to be a big deal to her since she wants to be an actress.Later, Jessica and Hunter make a deal which will later lead to him borrowing her car. She doesn't exactly know why either.
In hopes of getting discovered, Jessica tries to get Jordan to sign up for their school production of West side story. She hopes that by getting Jordan to sign up, his dad will show up. Jordan isn't exactly the drama type though.

I thought Fame, Glory, and other things on my list was okay. It's definitely not the first time I've read something like this.It was really hard for me to get into it but after reading a few pages I didn't have any trouble finishing it. It was a light read and it definitely had its funny moments. I think those in middle school and up would take interest in this book. I think that most people will enjoy it. I was only thrown off by its tween cover.

Los Angeles, CA February 19, 2007 — Summit Entertainment announced today that it has rounded out the cast of the Cullen family in the first installment of its filmed franchise, TWILIGHT. The family of vampires, to which the leading male character Edward Cullen belongs, will be comprised of actors Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.

"Finding six talented actors who can portray supernaturally beautiful, talented vampires of the sort Stephenie Meyer has created and her fans have come to know and love was not an easy task but we are happy to say we have found our perfect Cullen family," said Erik Feig, Summit's President of Production.

The credits for the actors comprising the Cullen family include popular film and television titles. I have to say, They look great. Except for Jackson Rathbone. I'm not so sure about his acting abilities. All I have to say is You Better Wow Me Rathbone!

Review: Cathy's Book

Cathy's Book is an imaginitive story about a girl named Cathy who leds a normal life until she meets a guy named Victor. Right when she begins to fall for him, Victor breaks things off suddenly. Confused, Cathy gets a little suspicious of it all and decides to look into Victor and his past. She finds herself in over her head when she discovers secrets that can change everything she's ever known.

This was probably one of the best books I've read in a while. I did not put this down until I got to the end. It was so cool having a packet of evidence and being able to interact with the story. I'm looking foward to the sequel, Cathy's Key, when it comes out May 5th! I even saw an ARC copy on ebay for like $10. I wish I had $10. . Anyways, I recommend this for someone who like a quick read and a good mystery. The only thing is that I was sort of my intrigued by the drawings and evidence than the story at times. Yes, I admit it! It got boring at some parts, but overall it was worth reading and getting.

So pick up your copy next time you visit the bookstore! Not the library though. I've heard stories of people checking it out and the evidence was stolen from it.

Did I mention you can call the phone numbers listed throughout the book? Well, you can and if your super smart like mee, you can get the acess codes to listen to the messages. ;]

The collection includes enchanted jewelry, magic instruments, talking amphibians and much more!

If your fan of fantasy novels, you definitely need to pick this up. This anathology has fantastic writers and each writer brought an amazing story, and even though magic is an element in this collection, it is easy to identify with the characters. I recommend this to teens who have not had an interest in fantasy. I personally wasn't a huge fan, but reading this has given me more of an interest. Beware! It will keep you up all night! ;]

Review: Spud

Spud is a hilarious coming of age novel about John ‘spud’ milton.
It is set in 1990 and Nelson Mandela just got released from prison. This makes his dad quite shaky and go completely bonkers. Spud’s family is already dysfunctional enough thanks to Wombat, his grandmother who goes on rants. One thing going great for Spud is that he got a scholarship to an elite boarding school.

Equipped with his diary, 13 yr. Spud is ready to take on his first year at boarding school in South Africa. Spud and his friends are later known as the “Crazy Eight” for their ventures throught school. Spud takes you on a ride you will never forget.

Spud was an absolute delight to read! I was laughing so hard throughout the book I could hardly put it down. John Van De Ruit wrote it with such wit and charm. All the characters brought so much to the story. I felt like I was one of the gang. I’m already aching for Van De Ruit to finsih writing the sequal! I already miss these characters. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good laugh. It’d be hard to enjoy it without a good sense of humor. If you enjoyed The perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky I also recommend this.

Review: The Possibilites of Fireflies

I think it is safe to say that everyone has at least one book that they truly connect with.

For me, The Possiblities of Fireflies by Dominique Paul was it.

The Possibilites of Fireflies is a coming of age story told through fourteen year old Ellie Roma. Ellie's family started to fall apart after her father left. Her mother has since become neglectful of her sister and her. She leaves Ellie waiting outside for hours while she goes out. However Ellie likes keeping company with the fireflies. She never loses hope that one day she will be saved from her life. One Day an older guy named Leo moves in next door. He is Ellie's savior.. or at least thinks he is at first. In the end Leo helps her find out the truth.. That the only person who can save you, is yourself.

This book was really outstanding. It was so easy for me to understand Ellie's emotions and the things she was going through. My mother isn't the greatest and the way she acted towards Ellie reminded me of my relationship with my mother. A book like this doesn't come around that often. Its an amazing story that will touch you and make your emotions flow. I cried through out the book. Trust me, its not hard to. If you love a story about someone who overcomes some of life's hardest situations this is for YOU. Heck, if you like a damn good read pick this up!

This is really not something you want to miss.

I am also happy to say that Domonique Paul is working on the sequel to this novel AND the motion picture! She sounds like Wonder Woman doesn't she? =]

I know that Michelle Trachtenberg is attached as the older sister Gwen. Did I mention Gwen was a party girl? Hmm, Might have missed that...

Anyways, Pick this up. I mean it. =]

Before I get back to reading Jane Eyre for school, I thought I'd write a quick entry. Basically, I want to say Happy Holidays and have a terrific New Year!

Right now I'm finishing The Possibilites of Fireflies by Dominique Paul and I have to say its phenominal. The book is so realistic and moving. I've gotten teary quite a few times.

More on the book later.

I don't know about you but there is a lot of books coming out like the day after christmas. Or at least, around then.

For example The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray, Princess Mia by Meg Cabot, & Fake Boyfriend by Kate Brian. Do they think I'll have money after christmas? I spend most of it before hand buying gifts.

Anyways, the first book I want to purchase in '08 is Leftovers by Laura Wiess.

ROBERT PATTINSON: Twilight Movie

Robert Pattinson has been casted as Edward Cullen in the upcoming Summit Entertainment movie Twilight. The movie is based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer.

Pattison's most notable role was as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films. He is also currently slated to be in the upcoming film Little Ashes.

The role of Bella Swan has been given to actress Kristen Stewart. Notable roles include- Speak, In the Land of Women, and Panic Room.

In my opinion Robert Pattison is great for the role. Not to mention he's hot.

I think it'd be difficult to cast Edward's character since he's so complex, but I'm happy with the casting decision. Same goes for Kristen. I adore Speak!

I hope to God this movie isn't butchered like Eragon and Blood & Chocolate.

Review: What They Found: Love on 145th St.

Yes, I'm barely alive. Thanks to school I've been away. Hi. Just thought I give a small update. Here's a review for the short story collection What They Found: Love on 145th Street.

What They Found is a new collection of short stories written by Walter Dean Myers. Each story's plot is based on love - family, romantic, platonic, and more. What They Found reveals how love can be found in some of the most unexpected places and times. Curtis is a soldier in Iraq fighting a war he doesn't want to take part in. He meets another soldier and through the horrors of war they fall in love.
I've never read anything like What They Found before so I thought It would be interesting to pick up. It was refreshing to read something with a good message. Each story captured an honest look at life and love.The book is geared more towards YA, but some stories might be a little mature for some readers. I recommend it to those who like reading fast-paced fiction. There is also something of a prequel to this collection called145 Street: Short Stories. It features some of the characters from this collection. I have not read it, but after reading this I definitely plan on it.

I've eaten so much today. Its like I can't stop. Literally. Everything just tastes great. That's why I don't like the holidays. Its when I eat. Alot.

Anyways, Given the state I am in I'm not in such a great mood to write.

But, I feel like I should put forth some effort.

Ohh did anyone watch Grey's Anatomy last night?

Seth Green was in this episode! I absolutely love Seth Green. He's such a great actor and completely hilarious. Ugh, I was however disgusted at the end. I knew that was going to happen when he started laughing! Lexi was the cause. BIG surprise there.

Anyways, I've been slacking. I have some reviews to write up. I still have two books to read and review. So Don't expect any updates for at least two days. I'll probably post those reviews on here when I finish them.

Oh and I've reached 50 Views! I'm really happy. =]

Review: I Want Candy by Kim Wong Keltner

I recently had the opportunity to read I Want Candy by Kim Wong Keltner.
& wow did I enjoy it. It has to be one of the best coming of age novels I've come across in a long time. Trust me, I've read quite a few.

Its 1983 San Francisco and our heroine Candace Ong lives in Eggroll Wonderland. The Chinese Restaurant her parents work at. Wonderland is Candace's hell. She's been frying egg rolls since she was five. She constantly saves her lay-see envelopes for her future escape. Perhaps her only comfort is her sort of best friend Ruby. Sure she goes out of her way to make Candace feel like crap but their still friends. Candace isn't sure if she want's to live like Ruby-- having sex with every W.P.O.D she meets but she does realise she's changing. This book ventures through life of a young girl trying to figure out herself and her new expirences.

Its hard to find a good book that really describes what it is like growing up asian american. This one does a pretty good job. At least for me. It's easy for me to identify with in some of the situations. Its nice to have a voice in Asian American literature.

Anyways, Recommend to those who have enjoyed other coming of age novels and a good laugh. However younger readers shouldn't pick it up due to some language and situations in the book.

I've decided a book of the month will be featured on this blog.

After much thought I thought I'd do a book that's not really in the "mainstream". The book chosen?

Eva Underground by Dandi Daley Mackall. I have to admit, when I first heard about it the cover interested me. I can't help it! I'm a romance fan. If you aren't you just haven't found the right one!

Summary:

Eva Underground is set in Chicago late 1970's. Our heroine Eva Lott is a senior in highschool with pretty much the perfect life. She has a hot boyfriend, a great best friend, and she's on varsity swim team. Things start going bad when her father tells her they are moving to Communist Poland. [Did I meantion its Communist?]

Eva has to leave her beloved life in Chicago to help out with the radical underground movement that could endanger her even more. Along the way Eva discovers many things about Poland. In consequence she grows to love the country she vowed to hate. Not only that she makes some new friends including a somewhat unusal friendship with a guy named Tomek. This is a fantastic coming of age story. It even harbors a touch of romance.

It is a truly engrossing novel that will pull you into a new world that has rarely been searched.

So, As I said before, our book of November is EVA UNDERGROUND.

I hope you look into it.

I'm quite upset. I took a nap after checking the mail today (flag was still up) . When I woke up I grabbed myself a bottle of green tea and went outside to check it again. As I walked up to the mailbox I expected to recieve two books. I reach my hand it and I got two!

Although, one was already opened and empty.

Why do that? Sending me an empty package is cruel and unsual punishment.
My day was already going horrible! I'm failing a class. I never fail.

Well okay I'm done ranting over my bad luck. I just hope that never happens again.

Anyways, I'm happy to say I will have reviews up for I Want Candy by Kim Wong Keltner and What They Found by Walter Dean Meyers later on.

Well, that's all for now! Hope this didn't bore you. I'm just so frustrated and tired.

Okay, lame. Anyways, After many months of searching I've chosen Blogger as my new blog home.
